Life House is northeastern Minnesota’s largest provider of supportive housing and comprehensive services to homeless and street youth, serving more than 800 teens and young adults ages 14-24 annually of whom almost half are homeless when they arrive at the doors. Through a holistic program model, Life House provides a place of acceptance, safety, and belonging where youth can reclaim a positive future. With support, our youth overcome trauma to become contributing members of our community. Life House has developed a data-driven, effective, and unique approach to help them get there.
Life House programs are designed to empower young adults to move from “surviving to thriving” by meeting their basic needs, providing safe and stable housing, addressing mental health and substance abuse concerns, and providing a pathway to living-wage careers.
Over the last year, over 12,000 meals were served in the youth center, 24 teens were housed in our shelter for 1501 nights, 53 youth were housed in our community-based supportive housing programs, 10 earned academic credentials with assistance from the Life House teacher, and 29 youth participated in our in-house paid job training program.
Since 1991, Life House has worked to reconnect homeless and street youth to their dreams. We are here today, and here for as long as takes until no young person will be left homeless, alone, uncared for, or fending for themselves on the streets.
